Academy Student Switches Career Path

In 2022, Saint John School student Madeline Blenman chose to participate in the ARMC Academy program after hearing a presentation on the program at her school.

Madeline was considering a career in healthcare and completed rotations in pediatrics and rehabilitation services. “I wanted to be a pediatric nurse, but I quickly realized that setting wasn’t for me. But spending a day following a speech therapist I realize that a lot of people cannot talk, and if I can help them that is really what I want to do,” said Madeline.

Madeline’s advice for students on the fence about the program? “Just do the Academy.”

Madeline credits her Academy experience with helping her to choose her major. Without the Academy she says, she would have started college majoring in pediatric nursing wasting time and money on a path that wasn’t right for her.  Madeline is currently majoring in speech and language pathology at Kent State University.
