Academy Graduate Returns to ARMC
In 2018, Geneva High School student Jordan Vencill spent the summer between her sophomore and junior shadowing surgeons, nurses, and other caregivers at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center as part of the ARMC Academy program.
Jordan was considering a career in healthcare, “I first considered a career in healthcare at a very young age. I always watched my aunt who as an LPN take care of people and knew I wanted to help people, too,” said Jordan. “During my Academy experience, I was surprised by how many different career paths there are to choose from in healthcare. But, seeing what nurses do, I knew that was the correct path for me”
For Jordan, being able to care for a patient throughout their stay and seeing the progression from OR to rehabilitation and back to a healthy state left a strong impression and guided her toward nursing.
After nursing school, Jordan returned to ARMC and currently cares for patients on one of our inpatient units. She says, “the most gratifying part of my job is being able to help/be involved in the care for patients to heal and get them back to health.”
