Donor Supports Patient Safety

Patient falls within the hospital setting are a significant safety concern with nearly 1 million patient falls annually in the U.S. resulting in up to 11,000 deaths and over 250,000 injuries. Ashtabula Regional Medical Center is continually monitoring fall risk and actively working to improve fall prevention in our medical/surgical unit.

A recent donation from ARMC Foundation board member Mike Fedler will allow ARMC to implement a state-of-the-art fall prevention system throughout our inpatient units.

The Stryker iBed Vision Clinical Dashboard provides almost real time data to assist in monitoring patient fall risk and alerts caregivers when patients are at risk due to bed protocols that aren’t being followed. This system guarantees a 40 percent reduction in patient falls and will be installed on all inpatient beds, with dedicated monitors at the nurses’ stations and unit clerk desks.
